Purpose
To enable concerns about wrongdoing to be raised safely and addressed properly.
1. Policy statement
- NSF encourages anyone connected to the charity to raise genuine concerns about wrongdoing.
- NSF will take concerns seriously, investigate appropriately, and will not tolerate retaliation against anyone raising concerns in good faith.
2. What can be reported?
- Fraud or theft; safeguarding failures; serious misconduct; regulatory non-compliance; bribery; conflicts of interest; misuse of funds; data breaches; or other serious wrongdoing.
3. How to raise a concern
- Concerns should be raised confidentially to the Chair or a nominated trustee/officer.
- If the concern involves the Chair, it should be raised with another trustee.
4. What happens next
- NSF will acknowledge the report, assess immediate risk, and determine an investigation route.
- Where appropriate, external agencies (police, local authority, regulator) may be involved.
5. Confidentiality
- NSF will protect confidentiality where possible, but cannot guarantee anonymity if law or safeguarding requires disclosure.
6. Review
- Reviewed annually.
